Faint Not

The sun urged itself to bring the light of day. Its effort though not in vain was subdued by the presence of heavy smoke that entrenched the valley.

Impregnable Sun

At 7:30 AM there was an eerie glow and ash particles falling from the sky. The air thick with smoke brought tears to my eyes and my sinuses went into overload to filter the air for my lungs challenging every breath I took.

Smoke Filled Skies

Pictures cannot capture the details nor the impression felt as if walls were closing in. Apocalyptic! Even the birds refused to leave the trees they were roosting in until long past sunrise.

9:10 AM

Yet as if in defiance of the gloom that filled the atmosphere this rose spread its beauty to those who kept a watchful eye. As if to spite the defilement that had come as a result of a senseless fire set in the forest this rose chose to bloom and release its glorious beauty even though its colors are somewhat changed by the distortion of the light.

Resplendent Rose

May your day be filled with blooms full of beauty even though chaos may be around you. As you keep a watchful eye for the beauty around you may you be rewarded because you searched for the hidden thing that was obscured because of what the world might have you focus on. May you have inner joy and peace this day.

Psalm 30:11 “You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.”

Isaiah 61:3 “To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.”

Proverbs 25:2  “It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them.”

Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”

  1. Day 2 today and it does feel so eerie out…so quiet. Saddened by the senseless act of some thoughtless kid…praying for those who live so close and those who fight these fires every day!
